My lil bro is looking for a decent setup for a decently low price.
He took a look on Newegg and this is what he came up with.
I took a quick look but what you guys think?
He wouldn't mind saving a few $$ from this setup, so spending anymore than this current setup is not an option really.
ps: them 3d glasses come free with his graphics card.

Im no PC pro but..My pc cost the same and its better than that, i also got it like a year ago.

I have a 520W powersupply which runs everything fine, also the 9800GT is kinda poo, u cud get a better card for $40 more and get a cheaper power supply.

cracked OS would save you $109 which u cud put into a better cpu or fan to overclock.

what u need is a cpu fan call "big typhoon" its a 120mm cpu fan is a fucking monster but keeps your cpu cool enough to OC your processor a bit. i love mine. was like 60$ off xoxide.com and get a 200 series graphics card there monsters too but well worth it.

Any other suggestions besides adding like $100+ to the price?

if you have $800 bucks budget then buying Windows is really bad choice.

... and the whole setup is totally out of date and overpriced. Buying Quad/DDR2/GeForce 9xxx technology these days is just madness. It was good (not great) 18 months ago, if you buy something like that today be prepared to buy a new computer next year.

Oh and one HINT, don't go for the "Combo deals". You ussually end up with more expensive gear than you would normally buy. These deals are made because either they need to sell old shit or they wanna make you spend even more money.

Yeah, I was gonna say just go with an i7 build since you'd be paying about the same for the processor and the mobo too, but DeMordey already said it all. The RAM that DeMordey cited is what I have in my system, its a fcking beast from Hell, though honestly I would just get 6 GBs of RAM (2GB x 3 sticks) saves ya alot of money and 2 sets (12 GBs) would be about the same as getting the 8 GBs.

And if you want a case, CM HAF 932 or Antec 1200, bar none, these two cases are the best for an ATX, E-ATX build.

Oh, and the Artic 5 Thermal Paste, might have to do it about 2-3 times before you get a good spread, takes awhile for the stuff to set in.
