Hey everyone I'm wanting to upgrade my rig currently I'm just looking at putting in a new psu and gpu and keep the rest as is, unless someone can seriously convince me otherwise.
Current setup:
mobo: MSI P7N SLI Platinum
memory: OCZ 4 GB DDR2-800 Kit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
GPU: Club 3D 8800 GTS 320mb
PSU: Antec Smart Power2.0 500W ATX2 (i think)
i'm still undecided but i'm considering between XFX GTX275 XXX or XFX GTX285 Black Edition ofc the black edition is better but costs more.
haven't looked into PSU's yet and not really familiar in that area either so if anyone has tips for a PSU that would be great.

I'm personally a EVGA fanboi so I would go with that.
For PSU you really wanna get a Corsair TX650 or 850 .... I personally have the HX1000 at home but that's a overkill, and at work I just bought the TX650 with one GTX260 (don't need that cool gpu)

which EVGA would you suggest to get? i'm not much of a fanboi of any company just Nvidia ^^ seen a few nice ones from EVGA. i might get the corsair TX850 just to have abit overkill for now and be able to upgrade (SLI).

Depends on your pocket but basically:

don't go for the "superclocked" etc, you can do it on your own with Precision software that comes with it.

and the 850 is great choice, u sure can double SLI with that.

it's not like SC is bad or anything, it's just more expensive and basically it's the same card so ... but if you get a good price on SC then why not

Definitely dont underrate the PSU as many often do.
I would look at "PC Power&Cooling". I have the following:

and believe me it is dead silent and dam powerful.

deff don't underrate the PSU just don't know much of it :) i'm not so worried about silence my case is loud on its own but perfect airflow due to it though and i don't mind :) i'll check that PSU out though see what it costs for me.

You might want to have a look at this too :

750W, SLI doable, can power anything on the market at this moment. Also, it' so damn silent, sometimes I reboot my PC from Sleep using the ON/OFF switch, as I can't hear anything.

I ordered the EVGA GTX285 2GB and the Tt Toughpower 14cm CM 750W ATX2
should be in tomorrow , took the Thermaltake cause its abit cheaper then the Corsair and also has Cable-management only type of PSU i'll buy if it doesn't have it i won't get it.
Thanks for the tips guys i should deff be set for a while again now till i upgrade to a X58 motherboard next year most likely.

Argh, I dislike Thermaltake, but the cable managment is something you REALLY wanna get. I hate PSUs w/o it (like the 650W I bought for workstation, but I don't really give fuck about that one).
Have some nice time tweeking the shit of the card ;)
